October / November 2009 :: Fan of the Month :: Dot Daugherty

Dot Daugherty may not have had much of a choice as to whether or not she would become a Dallas Cowboys fan. In fact, it might be plausible to think that her love for all things blue and silver might have been genetic.
Her memory bank recalls her father Jim’s Sunday ritual in which he’d cheer for his ‘Boys with his little girl beside him. Back then, she didn’t know that the time spent on the couch would transform in to decades of Dallas Cowboys fanaticism in which she admits that she has “always had a passion for them (Cowboys)” through both the good and the bad times.
That passion has led to the advent of another generation of Cowboys fans in the family. Both her son Bryce and her nephew Ryan cheer for the Cowboys and they all do it from over 900 miles away – in Indianapolis, Indiana. In fact, on game days, Ryan makes the hour-long trek to Aunt Dot’s house to praise the boys on a front lawn party that’s fit for a king.
Her first live experience with the Cowboys was in Indianapolis when the Cowboys traveled to play the Colts. In 2005, she discovered Cowboys Corral when performing a search for the best place to get Dallas Cowboys home game packages. Since that time, Dot has attended four games with us. Despite the tragic ending, she tells us that her favorite trip was last year’s heart breaker against the Baltimore Ravens – the final game played at Texas Stadium.
Since she’s traveled with the Corral so many times, we asked her what she liked the most about us and this is what she had to say.
There are many wonderful things about the Cowboys Corral, but if I had to pick one it would be the great way they treat their clients. They are quick to answer my questions, always reply and are very pleasant to be around. They are on site the entire weekend and are there if you need help with anything! They’re just a super group of people. That’s why we keep going back.
This year, Dot and the family will return to Texas with the Corral to watch her favorite player, Jason Witten and the rest of the team make good work of the Raiders on Thanksgiving Day.
If you’re here the same weekend, be sure to strike up a conversation with her about her favorite player of all time, Emmitt Smith, and share in her disdain of all things Eagles.
